Discovering and recovering your creativity art course with optional yoga

ONE WEEK PAINTING COURSE Sun14th - 21th of August. Las Alpujarras, Castaras. (Granada)

Complete ‘Live In” Accepting five sincere students on all levels. Presented in Artist Studio Home in beautiful nature setting. Classes are structured to allow work from both nature and ones unique imagination with daily illustrated talks on the ‘pictorial elements that make a unified and original work of art.

There will be a three hour class from 10:00 to 1:00 and a two hour session from 4:00 to 6:00 with studio space available at any time. Classes include outings to sketch or paint on site in nature as well as at local villages. Meals are primarily vegetarian (fish exceptions) and mostly from our organic garden and ‘in season’ local fruits. We offer shared and private rooms with shared bathrooms. Facing out veranda is a large shaded area bordering a stream and waterfall: perfect for loafing or sketching.

Students need to bring only their paints (acrylics recommended) and brushes. As well as any materials and sketching material that looks interesting to you. All other basics are supplied such as palettes, easels, stools and some materials are attainable at costs here as well. (Inquire for further paint details upon booking).

Transport for those flying into Granada airport provides an airport bus to the bus terminal where a bus to the Alpujarras and nearby villages are located where we can pick you up. The area of the Alpujarras is a unique unspoiled area one and a half hours south of Granada, we are surrounded by nature reserves dotted with a string of unspoiled villages and from our center we overlook our village and miles of pristine countryside. Think of this course as more than a holiday as the course is designed for you to return home with the confidence, knowledge and skills to carry on your creativity . Look Forward to meeting you.

About the Artist/Teacher Jack Rutherford is a dedicated vocational artist and teacher who has exhibited, lectured and presented workshops in the United States, Europe, Mexico, Germany and Brazil. He previously directed and taught at his centre "Arts & Growth" for over 20 years in the province of Malaga and has now been living in the Alpujarras for the last 6 years where he has recently reopened the Centre.

Yoga Instructor Zara Nova teaches a dynamic class integrating many forms of yoga to deepen ones awareness of subtle energies, bringing about inner peacefulness and nurturing of the entire being. She was introduced to yoga 6 years ago and since then has been learning and experimenting with many forms of yoga. She has studied in San Francisco, India, Mexico and Thailand from two different paths of yoga, one in Hatha/Tantra and another in Ashtanga/Vinyasa.

One week painting course with optional Yoga included with our resident Yoga instructor. (includes all meals, accommodation, yoga, art workshop and materials)

Accommodation will be at the center with both shared and single rooms available with shared and private bathroom. For a private room there will be a 30 Euros additional charge, there are two private rooms with shared bathroom, one has beautiful views of the waterfall and the other is a wooden cabin. There are two double rooms one with a private bathroom and one with a shared bathroom. Depending on the group and number of people we will make sure we can best suit your accommodation preference.

The Centre is located above the small village of Castaras in the heart of the Alpujarra nature reserve 1 1/2 hours south of Granada city. A traditional rural village surrounded by rivers, valleys, orchards, agricultural terraces and wilderness.

If you are using public transportation there are many buses depending on where you are coming from, the closet airport is Granada. There are several daily buses from Granada station to the villages of Orgiva or Torvizcon where we can arrange to pick you up.
