Holiday / Activity Overview:

Snowdonia in North Wales has some of the most breathtaking mountain landscape in Britain, and is one of the oldest National Parks in the world. There are two types of courses offered: SINGLE DAY TUTORIALS in PAINTING and DRAWING for beginners or for intermediate to experienced artists. and courses in MAKING AN ARTIST'S BOOK. THE MAKING THE ARTIST'S BOOK course uses the surrounding landscape as a starting point, in particular one's personal experience of being in the landscape. We will start by sketching and gathering visual and sensory information. Noelle will demonstrate how to make a variety of different types of book, with each student making their own one-off book using drawing, painting and handwritten or digitally printed text. SINGLE DAY TUTORIALS IN PAINTING AND DRAWING can be arranged for a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 students, concurrent single day tutorials can be arranged with B&B. For beginners: Noelle will teach and demonstrate ways to look, sketch and gather visual information with an emphasis on acquiring observational skills. For intermediate to more experienced artists: Noelle will teach how to improve existing skills, and develop a programme of tuition to help develop your strengths and direction of your painting. You will be asked to bring 3 pieces of work so we can discuss your work and how you might like it to develop.

A secluded and stunning venue it is surrounded by mountain woodland and lakes with wonderful views of the nearby mountain ranges. The house has been tastefully renovated and furnished in a simple and traditional style with a wood burning stove that keeps the cottage warm and cosy. A perfect place to walk and find inspiration amongst nature.

About the local area:

Snowdonia is an ancient land of mountains and pasture that sits amongst lakes, rivers, moorland and woodland. Close to the sea it is a land of changing weather and dramatic light.
The beautiful area of Tan y Bwlch lies in the softer more wooded part of the Snowdonia National Park. Hafod cottage and studio sits high above the valley with slopes of oak woodland dotted with magnificent redwoods and fir trees.
The area is known for its rare lichens and moss as well as its wildlife and birds. A rich variety of woodland birds can be heard and seen, as well as buzzards and ravens circling above.

How to Get Here:
