If you are a complete beginner – don’t worry - you will be shown step by step. For those with more experience - these courses will give you sound guidance and inspiration helping you to become a more proficient artist.

For those who wish to try something different our sculpture studios are freely available for clay, plaster or wood.

Each day starts with a demonstration and talk after which your tutor will work one-to-one with you. All course materials are included: charcoal, sepia crayon, oil, acrylic, gouache and watercolour. Learn how to capture landscapes, live model, still life, village life, portraits and much more. Join us for an experience of a lifetime on the French Riviera.

All materials required for the course are provided in the course fee. This includes professional quality oils, acrylics and watercolours, brushes, paper, etc.

We are very happy to accommodate those who wish to accompany their partner or friend but do not wish to be active in the course. We offer you the same all-inclusive package and you are free to join the group on the excursions.

Tutor
Mitch Waite is the co-founder and Principal Tutor of Maison des Arts. He has been a professional artist for over 20 years and has extensive experience in teaching art. In addition to teaching traditional painting disciplines, he will encourage you through a number of innovative exercises to explore and develop your own creativity and individual style.

Each day starts with a demonstration after which you receive one-to-one tuition. All the course materials are included: charcoal, sepia crayon, oil, acrylic, gouache and watercolour. There is plenty of opportunity to try different mediums and a variety of subjects such as landscapes, still life, street and café-scenes, portraits, live model and more.

Mitch exhibits internationally and regularly gives courses, workshops and talks on creativity to business schools and other institutions.

Hanna Waite is a Co-founder and Chef de Cuisine. Her enormous creative talents range from acting - she recently formed the highly successful 'Limelight Theatre Company', to painting - her works are regularly exhibited at Maison des Arts and are collected internationally, and finally to cooking - where she brings her well established culinary skills to the kitchen at Maison des Arts.

Location
Maison des Arts is a prestigious international art school located in the South of France, just 20 minutes from Nice. ProvenceWeb.fr describes Saint Jeannet as follows:

"Nestling at the foot of an immense "baou", i.e. an impressive cliff overlooking the entire village, Saint Jeannet is a charming little village located between Vence and Nice.

It was a stronghold of the Villeneuves from the 13th century to the Revolution, and today it is a beautiful residential village in the Nice hinterland with a panoramic view of the coast. Built in the Middle Ages, with its houses constructed from local stone huddling together to form a rampart surrounding the church, it is still dominated by a fortified castle and the ruins of a keep.

Not for nothing did it attract many painters, writers and poets, such as Dufy, Trachel, Poussin and Prévert … In an exceptionally beautiful and peaceful setting the village of Saint Jeannet seems to have been blessed by the Gods. Few tourists are to be seen, yet the village is particularly enchanting with its well-kept pretty streets, some beautiful 17th century houses, its gate hollowed out of what remains of the ancient defensive walls."

Our closest airport is Nice International Airport, or if taking the motorway, leave at Saint Laurent du Var.
