You will be encouraged to enjoy the process of painting as much as the end result. The focus is on painting outdoors which includes trips to local beaches, mountains and villages. Accommodation
Our guests stay in one of our charming, reformed Moorish houses in the delightful mountain village of Torrox, situated east of Malaga and enjoy all the comfort of modern conveniences in a pleasant traditional setting.
These old Spanish houses in the enchanting white village of Torrox have been beautifully restored. The houses are well equipped with all modern conveniences, including washing machine, fridge, iron, ironing board, hairdryers and showers. All the houses have terraces with wonderful views over the village, the mountains in the background or the sea. We are within eight minutes drive of the beach to which a regular bus service operates.
The village also has a really lovely square with a range of bars and restaurants.
The surrounding countryside is a paradise for walkers.
Tutor
Anna Martin is an artist, life coach and trainer. She combines these skills to teach art and organise creativity workshops for small groups, in which there is a focus on self expression and personal development.
Anna originally trained as a designer, even though as a child she was encouraged to paint and express her creative self. Anna started her career at the Chelsea School of Art. There she became interested in Graphic Design and decided to study at Parsons School of Design in New York, where she completed her degree in Graphic Design. This was then followed by nearly 10 years of work in both Madrid and London in the fields of advertising and publishing. Whilst this was interesting and challenging she had a desire to return to her roots and focus on painting. For the last five years she has been working as a commercial artist where she undertakes commissions for indi viduals and companies as well as exhibiting in galleries.
She has in addition undertaken various training courses in personal development and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
Anna's work therefore is about expressing colour, emotion, rhythm and dynamics. Her subjects are varied as this keeps the creative momentum going and her paintings vary from abstract to expressionist.
Her art is driven by a need to constantly explore new perceptions in representation and this lends itself to her ever evolving style and approach. Her work is inspired by continuous travel, with a particular attraction to Southern Spain. Anna believes that creating art is a form of self expression. Whatever your perceived ability in art you can tap into your creative source and it is the process of doing art, not just the end result which is rewarding. Anna will focus on giving you the tools to not only draw and interpret images for painting but also to eliminate creative blocks and draw out your own unique style and inspiration.
