Accommodation
You will stay in a fabulous 'family run' rural hotel, Hotel Banú Rabbah, located in the unspoiled white village of Benarrabá. The hotel was built in an exceptionally privileged location from where guests can enjoy one of the most panoramic views of the river Genal V alley and the surrounding highlands. Both dawn and dusk are of indescribable beauty, leaving one with unforgettable memories.
The hotel has twelve comfortable rooms, each with en-suite facilities and a terrace overlooking the fantastic countryside/gardens.
The large swimming pool and pretty gardens offer you a welcome siesta break.
The village is situated in the province of Málaga in a region known as the Serrania de Ronda. With a population of around 800, it is seen as the historic guardian of the River Genal valley and nestles into the side of the mountain at an altitude of 522 metres.
Tutor
Marion studied at the famous 'Gerrit Rietveld Akademie' in Amsterdam.
She worked for ten years as an art teacher in a British school on the Costa Blanca, before founding her own art school and starting residential courses.
She provides guidance in drawing and painting techniques to beginners and intermediate level artists whilst her expertise in use of oils and the palette knife will inspire and challenge the more advanced of painters.
Location
Benarrabá is in the Genal Valley, an amazing green oasis in this area of southern Spain. The village of Benarrabá which is situated is in the Genal Valley between Ronda and Gibraltar, and is surrounded by Cork Oaks, Chestnut trees and Olive groves which cover the steep sides of the mountains and offer a wide range of most contrasting colours which change with the seasons of the year.
In Spring the landscape is converted into a natural garden with a rich splendour of colours and perfumes. Almost 25% of the Andalusian countryside is preserved as a National Park.
The river Genal has the purest water in Europe. There is no industry in the area. Farming techniques are machine free and traditional. Food is therefore all organic. Many people still use mules and donkeys on the land. Horse riders and mule trains are a common sight in Benarrabá.
