Art Holiday Course Overview:
Dalvaro Art Holidays are pleased to offer you tutored painting and printing holidays and non tutored art breaks in Spain. Whether it is watercolours, oil painting or printing we offer you an opportunity to improve your artistic technique and expressive style in the company of fellow artists under the tutelage of Dolores Alvaro while relaxing in the tranquil and inspirational surroundings of the beautifully picturesque and varied Valencian countryside, in the south east of Spain.
No matter what your painting or printing ability or level is, or preferred media, watercolours, oil, silk screen etc. you will soon be caught up in the boundless exuberance, passion and excitement which Dolores shares with everyone when practicing or talking art. This is the painting holiday that allows you to expand on your painting or printing know-how in the Spanish sun. Learn your art and the art of relaxation
Class sizes are deliberately kept small with usually only four students and occasionally to an absolute maximum of six. This ensures that in-depth tuition and individual attention is always maintained with the result that no-one will feel left out, lost, out of their depth or struggling alone. Anyone requiring extra tuition will find it easily and eagerly given.
Whether you are an experienced artist or just beginning your painting adventure, a Dalvaro Art painting course will give you the individual attention that you deserve. Dolores is fully experienced in teaching students of different levels in various media. She will teach you, in situ, at various locations just a short drive from the studio. Each days location will be different and will include landscape or architectural views. These sessions last for approximately three hours per day and continue in the studio after a leisurely lunch.
Printing Workshops Holidays
Ide al for those adventurous artists to try something completely different, or for those experienced enough to try new formats.
Whether it’s lithography, photo etching, monoprinting, silk screen printing or etching that captivates your imagination, you will be able to immerse yourself in your own wonderful world of artistic freedom here at ‘Las Orchideas’.
This is an entirely studio based course, with all the equipment and materials included.
Easels, stools, drawing board and cleaning materials are all provided. You may wish to bring your own personal equipment (i.e. drawing pads, pencils, soft pencils, pastels, charcoal brushes etc.) although most basic materials can be purchased from the studio. You are advised to check with your airline as to which items you are allowed to bring, particularly if you wish to bring some as hand luggage.

Tutor
Painting in Holidays offers one week, tutored painting courses and printing workshops for beginners as well as the more advanced artist, in water colours, oils, acrylics, screen printing, mono printing, etching etc. and non-tutored art breaks.
Dolores Alvaro - better known as Loli - was born in Madrid but lived in London for thirty-five years before returning to Spain. She studied at Chelsea and the University of Surrey (Roehampton) obtaining a BA with Honours. Subsequently she went on to study printing at the School of Arts (Elephant and Castle, London).
While serving as visiting tutor at Heatherlys College of Fine Art in Kings Road London, she also taught students of various levels at her private studio in Middlesex. She has had various exhibitions in England, Spain and France.
Dolores welcomes students, of all levels of ability from absolute beginner to the more advanced amateur or professional artist, to share her home and purpose built studio.
Location
This small but expanding town sits in the Vall d'Albaida within the Communidad de Valencia. It is 60km from Valencia city, 100km from Alicante and 30km from the blue flag beaches of Gandia.
The landscaped gardens of ‘Las Orquideas’ view the town from above. The octagonal tower of the 16th century church dominates the town centre. The town itself is surrounded by predominately Orange and Olive groves with some Almonds, Peaches and Vines. During their stay students can be assured that they will meet many interesting (and extremely friendly) people from Benigánim, all of whom will help to make this a wonderful, relaxing and informative holiday.
The weather pattern here is very stable and, because it is so far away from the stormy Atlantic and near to the warm mass of the Mediterranean, the weather forecaster’s job is relatively easy. Sunny weather tends to linger and it becomes much easier to plan events such as picnics and barbeques.
Valencia enjoys a Californian type climate with the nearby Mediterranean moderating the temperatures so that summer days are usually cooler than those further inland and winter nights stay relatively warm. This means that throughout most of the year staying cool is far more important than keeping warm. The average annual temperature is 17.8°C (64°F ) with average daily highs of 22.3°C (72°F) and lows of 13.4°C (56°F) which compares with a daily average high of 12.8°C (55°F) and low of 6.1°C (43°F) for the UK and Ireland.
