In 2008 we are offering a glass workshop exploring the techniques of sandblasting on glass. We cater for groups of 4 people and the emphasis is on having an eye for design - drawing skills, whilst useful, are not necessary - there are many ways of transferring your design onto glass.

Tuition is personal and tailored to suit your needs and is given by experienced local artists. We provide tuition over six days for three and a half hours every morning from 10.00 - 1.30 with a break for coffee, leaving you free in the afternoon to either continue in the studio or relax by the pool. Our classes will be either studio based or outside on the lovely Duende terraces.

We offer a full day in Granada at the marvellous Alhambra Palace and also offer trips to the Old Town in Salobrena with its Moorish castle and atmospheric little streets, as well as to the beach. Of course, no activities are compulsory! If you prefer to relax on the terrace or swim in the pool - that’s fine. The emphasis here is on flexibility and fun!

All standard glass is provided as well as various resists, cutting knives, marker pens, drawing paper, tracedown paper etc. We also have a selection of art glass available to buy, including coloured, flashed, dichroic etc. The studio is fully equipped.

Accommodation
This beautiful house has always been home to artists - a dancer, a sculptor and now a glass artist. It is situated on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean and the picturesque village of Salobrena in Granada Province in southern Spain. The location is very peaceful and secluded and the harmonious atmosphere is most conducive to creativity.

Duende is a place for the discerning traveller who appreciates the comforts of home whilst enjoying the tranquillity and privacy of the surroundings. It has been finished to the highest standard, that incorporates contemporary luxury bathrooms, comfortable beds and good quality linen etc. In fact, you will find at Duende everything to make you feel inspired, comfortable and relaxed.

The accommodation is in four double/twin rooms, three of which have an ensuite bathroom. Each room has its own private terrace and tea and coffee making facilities.

The resident owner will provide you with delicious imaginative meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner with wine and beer included. We cater for vegetarians. All transport is provided, including airport pick-up.

Tutor
Our 2008 glass workshop will be led by Irene Reeve FRSA and Vonni du Val, a local glass artist.

Irene has taught in London art schools, exhibited paintings in two London galleries and designed and executed murals for public buildings in London. Vonni has attended numerous glass workshops around the world and has recently set up her glass studio here in Spain.

Location
It is situated in the very heart of the Costa Tropical and is within easy reach of Granada and the famous Alhambra Palace, the Sierra Nevada Ski-resort and the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada, known as Las Alpujarras.

It has a lively beach with plenty of bars and restaurants for al fresco dining.

How to Get to Us
The two nearest airports are Malaga and Granada, both about a one and a quarter hour drive from Duende. And airport pickup is included in the price of the holiday although for those who arrive outside the pickup time or prefer to have their own car we will provide full details on how to get to us.
