12 day - Sail & Stay Holiday

One week staying in one of our charming gites - time to discover our beautiful coastline with many sandy beaches, and numerous exciting activities such as mountain biking, surfing, fishing, wind boarding, etc.. The next five thrilling days sailing around the magnificent Brittany coast visiting different ports and islands. Richard, your qualified RYA Instructor, skippers CORNISH LEGEND, our beautiful 34' steel yacht. If any of your party would like to do a RYA Tidal Practical Sailing Course, while onboard CORNISH LEGEND, Richard will be happy for you to do this at no extra charge

My sea experience started as a Merchant Navy Officer in the 1970's and then I joined The Royal Naval Auxiliary Service and after a few years and numerous exams was promoted to a Skipper on their patrol vessels, sailing many miles. I then decided to join the Ocean Youth Club as 1st. Mate and had some fantastic voyages with them, including two Atlantic crossings. While I was doing this I worked on getting my Yachtmaster Offshore, then Yachtmaster Ocean and finally RYA Yachtmaster Instructor ticket in 1997. I have been running Sail and Stay holidays over the last ten years and have had a great time with many different families.

The total price of a Stay & Sail Holiday is for 7 days staying in one of our gites (self-catering) and 5 days cruising around the coast, visiting different ports each night on 'Cornish Legend' our yacht. If anyone would like to do a RYA sailing course, at the same time this can be done at no extra charge. We can take up to four people on this holiday, it is very popular with families. 1st WEEK You can 'chill out' in our attractive gite - Pebbles which sleeps up to 4 in two adjoining bedrooms . It has an attractive living room / kitchen and bathroom downstairs. Outside there is a small patio with a barbecue. We have a lovely garden where you can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside which surrounds us.
Then 5 DAYS SAILING. On the Saturday evening, after 1700hrs. you will join CORNISH LEGEND at Camaret. She is a new 34' steel yacht, fast but very stable and has a large inboard engine. Richard (who is a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor) will welcome you and show you round. We will offer you an evening meal with wine onboard. Next day after a brief safety talk we will set sail for a short trip either around the coast, or one of the islands, or in the Rade de Brest.
The five day program is always flexible and depends on where you would like to go and the weather forecast for the week. Normally, in the evening, our guests eat ashore in one of the many small French restaurants. You can be involved in as much or as little sailing, navigation etc. as you like. There are four berths on CORNISH LEGEND - two in the forward cabin and two in the saloon.
We can include Tidal Sailing Courses like Competent Crew or Day Skipper at no extra charge, if required.

Presqu'ile de Crozon has in general been undiscovered by tourists as they tend to by-pass it on their way south. The French come in summer but it never gets that busy. The Presqu'ile extents about 30 kms by 10 kms. and in that area the scenery changes from towering cliffs at Point Espangnois with its bracing walks to long beautiful sandy beaches which stretch for miles (there are in fact over 12 sandy beaches to choose from. We have many activities for all the family including mountain biking, diving, surfing, dinghy sailing, wind boarding, tennis,horse riding, etc. Camaret is a smaller version of St. Ives, in Cornwall, as it has many art galleries, shops, cafes/bars and restaurants surrounding the picturesque harbour.

Brittany Ferries run different routes across the Channel and with the roads being so good in France it is an easy journey to get to us. *Roscoff is our nearest ferry port and is only 56 miles. * St Malo is about 150 miles. * Caen is about 250 miles. * Cherbourg is about 260 miles. *Travel with Brittany Ferries and we can give you a code to get up to 20% off normal ferry ticket prices. *FLY & DRIVE ALTERNATIVE If you do not want the expense of bringing your car over on the ferries you can now flying in to Brest and hire a vehicle for your holiday (a) Flybe fly from Luton, Birmingham, Southampton or Exeter to Brest . (b) Rynair fly from Luton to Brest. (c) By French TGV railways to Brest The French fast train network which connects to all of Europe including London is very fast, efficient and is very reasonable compared to the UK train system.
